Thank You
Thank You Very Much
I like the way it's turned out

Never been a cruiser type,
If you would have asked me 6 months ago if I'd ride one I would have laughed, not me!
I finally realized that me and high seated bikes just weren't getting along,
when I'd swing my leg over to get on it was extremely painful and we won't even talk about getting off, which would pinch a nerve in my back. So lower is better!
My wife doesn't ride anymore so why have that to me ugly pillow on the back.
I really like the looks of our bike with no shield
but I hardy ride unless I go 100 or more miles[I've put 7000 on my bike in 3 1/2 months] so a shield just makes sense for that.

Been riding over 50 years
The motor on the 1300 is twice as big as any bike I've owned before.

@Dallas1300
Crazy....I can't seem to get it past 120mph......your exceleration looks much like mine but I can't pin it....or should i say that out takes forever for the bike to move beyond 120. It looked like to me you stayed in 4th gear until about 110 or so.....maybe I have to run out forth gear hard and then pop it into 5 th. I have the air box mod but still have the factory pipes.

@mjb1515 if you were to go to a set of 2.5 inch straight throughs fit up a Power Commander IV have it dyno'd you would find that you can match @Dallas1300

When I had mine fitted out with the custom made tuned length exhaust, PC IV and a Barons BAK I found myself riding a rocket ship! I have seen close to 180 kph and still accelerating (decided to back off before the constabulary discovered me) and making power with roughly 1/4 throttle left to go!!! Scarey stuff, but it's nice to know that the response is there if needed! A bonus was that my economy didn't suffer in fact it slightly improved!

RE: V Star 1300 top speed...
There is an electronic limiter that cuts spark to one of the cylinders. I bet its your burping and farting thats the culprit. Also youd have to consider wind resistance and weight

Well the only way i know is you can change the limiter with a dyna ignition modual.

If i knew how to make it so it didnt work i wouldnt post it either. Wouldnt want someone buring their motor up and blaming me

RE: V Star 1300 top speed...
I wouldn't get too excited about bypassing the limiter...it is probably not the limiting factor anyway unless you've already improved the engine's ability to breathe in and out significantly.

I'm not sure whether the limiter kicks in before or after valve float starts happening anyway - and that's a "limiter" that is going to take quite a bit of expensive parts and a teardown to "bypass." :)

Gotta face it, these babies, especially the 650/1100 are late 70's, early 80's econobox technology...if you want a rocket, get a rocket. :)

Hmm I thought of limiter as a requirement from department of transportation to the manufacturer to make that certain vehicle admissible. Never thought of it as some engine protection otherwise why to make the dial to max 200 and limit it to 120, for example.

does @jem1ranger still have the AIS? some of the issues with it could be described as burping, do the AIS delete if you still have it.

I just went out to take some pictures of the bike with some descent back grounds and on my way back I hit a stretch of open country road and I think to my self . Lets do 90 mph and check out the Bat Wing.

Well at 90 there just isn't any wind it was like being in a vacuum, felt really good so I gave her [she is a girl, you knew that right?]

some more gas and no problem.

I'm just cruising down this mountain looking at a rain storm coming up maybe 10 miles away just beautiful.

And the next thing I know my feet are being blown off the highway pegs!!!

Look down at the speedo, I'm doing like 115.

There is no buffeting just as smooth as butter,

Man this wing is the thing!!!

Got to love it, just got to love it!!!

What brand wing is that?
