rear drive assembly
I have a 2001 650 vstar and my rear drive assembly is out. I've located a 2007 assembly but im unsure whether or not they are compatible. Anybody have an answer for this one?

RE: rear drive assembly
if you go online to a parts store and get the part numbers for your bike and the one for the 07 and they match you should be good to go .... just an idea

curious why you need to do this? it went out you say? what were the signs? mine might low on fluid but not sure if the spline is dry like i've heard does happen and could be common on this bike. i like to know more info tho.

I'm curious too. How come you are changing it out? What happened?
The Yamaha PN is 5FB-Y4617-00-00 for both years. Smile Should work.

If I'm not mistaken, the internal drive gear from the old 535 will work too, and might be a tad cheaper. Here is a write up explaining what to do.
