1100 tire wear?
I have an 1100 Classic I run Dunlop 404's and have done for 6 or 7 sets now. my question is what sort of mileage do you get from your tyres, and what are they I generally get 15,000 km (9,000 miles) front and 12,000 km (7,500 miles) rear
I have a mate on a 13 he get 20,000 km plus out of his and I just don't know how he does it.

He probably has dementia and can't remember when he installed them or his odometer doesn't work half the time. Smile Seriously, I don't know how they do it either but, there are some people who only ride in perfect weather on glass roads.

IME, Dunlop tires don't last at all. According to reviews, some of the worst tires out there. I've had a lot of them and haven't really noticed anything other than them wearing out fast. The price point is good though. I'm not sure why a lot of manufacturers use them. Reviews of most of the Dunlops get bad ratings for wet roads, following ridges in the road, and fast wear.

I had a set of Bridgetones on my BMW on time and they were worse than Dunlops though.

I quite like the Dunlops, Bridgstone felt like riding on ice in the wet. I'd like to try the Metzelers but no body round here stocks them

Will be taking my Dunlops off as soon as the new Perelli's get here. The Dunlops lasted 4,600 miles, very disappointing.

you will like the perelli's. i been running same set for 2 years, i ride all year round rain or shine. tires still look new even after 2 cross country trips. i do have a habit of checking tire pressure daily before ride due to a past bad experience. however due to their age i will be replacing them this year.

RE: 1100 tire wear?
@jmck really dunlaps? you gonna get @gibbo up in arms now, i ran that set of metzlers for 3 years, wore the fool out of them riding 5+ days a week. only went with shinko 777 ww due to budget didn have the $100+ difference on unemployment for front and back which both needed replacing very badly. so far very happy with the performance of these tires, they grip really well, time will tell on miles out of them, not riding or leavin the 4 walls much as trying to conserve funds, 2 interviews last week, so now have 3 places "decision will be made in the next 2-3 weeks, jeez! am going stir!

RE: 1100 tire wear?
@Keith would you believe I am in the market right now for a pair of hoops I want to try the metz, but can't get them locally. no one stocks them, the service manager at my usaul shop tell me they have a pretty steep minimum order, and thats why they are hard to find.
so my quandary now is this, I am not doing nearly as many miles as I was, my commute has gone from 500km a week to 20km. I am hoping when I get by tyres fitted they can fix a worn rubber on my driveshaft, hopfully for next to nothing as I have the new rubber. i can't get the metz locally but I beleive my usual mechanic will fix the driveshaft and fit Dunlops for a reasonable price, even give me a loaner bike while it is done. I can get the metz about an hour from home, I have to book in advanced for a saturday morning fitting, then wait around as they don't do loaners, it will cost me an extra $100
i'd like to try the metz but it is looking much easier to get the dunlops

@Keith there's no sweat from me mate @jmck sometimes you just have to go with what you can lay your hands on and is convenient. One of my contacts up in NSW reckons the Pirelli's will give good value for dollars invested.

RE: 1100 tire wear?
Well said about Dunlops. They go bald faster than male bald pattern. Last one gave me ~5k miles on rear. They better be called DunSlap.

RE: 1100 tire wear?
I just purchased the Michelin Commander 2 tires front and back to replace the Dunlops that are on my V Star Classic 1100. Has anybody used these tires and if so what are your thoughts?
