Aftermarket Gas Tank
So I got a vstar from a buddy of mine. He sold it to a guy who wrecked it and couldnt pay him for it so just gave it back all beat up. He gave it to me as he has bad hips now and cant work on or ride it.

That being said i need a gas tank for this badboy! Ive been looking for an aftermarket tank but cant find anything that will fit the double backbone frame, and the only others i find are on ebay used for round 400 bucks. Im curious if this is my only option or if anyone out there knows of a cheaper option.

The dent is about the size of a grapefruit and is partially where the gas cap goes so bondo is not really an an option.

Any input would help. Thanks

You will find that there have been a few forum members who have successfully restored a dented fuel tank, you don't say what model/type of V Star it is you have and if possible could you post up some photos of the damage please?

I am certain though that some of our more creative members like @Maustarman and @jhennly not forgetting the resident FNB (Friendly Neighbourhood Bot) @Mr RCOM who hopefully when they see the tags will chime in with some words of wisdom for you.

Welcome to the Crew too.

Here I'm @gibbo lol
@fort9erfan. Yes, we need some more info... I can give you some ideas on how to repair the tank but need some pics to see if possible..
Also... eBay has options!
I just came across this one for only $150 .. No dents

RE: Aftermarket Gas Tank
I have seen the "peanut" styled tank sitting ontop of the double backbone. I'm not fond of the look, but that's just me. You can convert to a single carb, and cut and weld the frame to accommodate other styled tanks. I really dig the coffin style myself. Otherwise, as Maurstarman stated, check Ebay. Alot of people will part out older Vstars instead of selling the bike as a whole to try and make a little more profit.

Wow that really is a dent :(
Based on my experience any of the other options aren't going to be cheaper than just buying the one I sent u in that link for $150
Peanut tanks can be mounted on the double bone but need to do some mods .. not easy easy ones..
