Metzler 888 update:
Okay, so last weekend it was in the 60's here in the Southeast U.S. I was able to drop off the bike and get the new Metzler 888's installed (front and rear). When I went back that day to pick it up, they told me to be careful for the first 50 to 100 miles because those were some of the slickest tires they had seen. Evidently because motorcycle tires have a longer shelf life, they coat them well with some synthetic product to keep them from aging, etc. They told me to just ride conservative for the first 50-100 miles until I have worn off the synthetic product, especially on curves.
After riding it home, then taking it out again the next day, I believe I am finally past the 50 mile mark...but haven't really put them to the test yet. So far these tires feel really good! I rode both my wife and son (not at the same time) on the back and asked if they felt any difference. They both thought it was a smoother ride. I will update once I really put them to the test, especially on the curves. But so far, @Gibbo
has not let me down by touting the 888's as very excellent tires.
