Metzler 888
Well, my wife surprised me with the new rear and front Metzler 888 tires for my 650 classic for Christmas. Have not gotten them installed yet but plan on taking the bike in this month to have them put on. I remember when @Gibbo was "selling" us all on the Meztler tire brand not long ago. Can't wait to try them out!

@rsmed1 Congratulations, Good wife. If they don't live up as @Gibbo said, we all should go to his house and confront him. Wink

unless @rsmed1 lives down under, be a heck of a trip to knock on @Gibbo door for a pint and a explanation. but have wanted to go there for a very long time, just lack of the big $ to do it.

I currently have Shinko on mine because they were cheaper, but have given some thought to the Metzelers. Let me know if they live up to the hype, and if they are worth the extra coin.

Will do. Today in the southeast we were around 30 degrees all day. I'm hoping for a warm up soon to go and get the new tires installed.

I think we actually got up into high 50's-low 60's here in Valdosta. Tomorrow is expected to be a touch warmer, but rainy. Then the temps will drop back off again:(

We are having a heat wave. The temps came up from the minus numbers yesterday to 23 this morning. I guess you could say that was topless weather. Wink

Brrrr, I don't think we've reached negative numbers but a few times here in South Georgia. Usually, it will only last a day or so. For the most part, our weather is not that bad. We've just had an unusually wet year. I'm not much for riding in the rain. I can't wait until all this clears up, and I can start taking the bike to work again. Gassing up the truck is getting expensive.

RE: Metzler 888
We're getting our second winter this year - usually we only get one really good cold spell per winter but this is number two. I guess it's the edge of that big "polar vortex" that is supposed to put most of the US into freezing territory. My oldest daughter and her family are in Idaho and I'm really glad I'm not... :)

Still, the chill factor was 10 degrees when I left for rehearsal this morning. Down here that's like 10 below where people are used to the cold.

Come spring I'll be glad we had this cold though - fewer bugs.

The good times are here!!!! @rsmed1 you will be very happy on the 888's and my door is always open, provided you can put up with the chooks, greyhound a Silky Terrorist who wants to be as tall as the greyhound, great winding roads fabulous views and soon we're going to have summer!!!!! Well, that's what the weather bureau is trying to tell everyone!!

I checked out the 1300's tyres on the weekend and they're only about half worn - over 28,000 kilometres on the rear and closer to 35,000 on the front! The 1100 has just had a new Dunlop fitted to the rear and the front is about half worn (Dunlop) the speedo says 31,000 kilometres so they have a bit to go, before I can consider some 888's.

@Gibbo say its not so, Dunlaps? noooooo....... all i have ever heard from many forums is poor mileage and stay away from wet roads. only reason hd use them is they are "official hd tire", so you know how hd guys are, they are sold right there, most will never use anything else.

@Keith thanks for that info mate, that only means I'll have to wait a few months and the 1100 will get her 888's. Wonder if @rsmed1 lovely lady can arrange a birthday present of them for me????

@Gibbo my wife said she'd be fine sending you a set for your birthday but the overseas shipping might be a bit high. :-)
