RE: Shinko Rear Tires for 1100 [170/80/15]

Actually, yeah, if they're loud you probably can. The problem with tire noise is that the entire machine becomes a sounding board for it. Smoother treads, probably not an issue, aggressive treads, yeah, definitely noticeable. Back in the day the semi-knobbies on my TS-400 made themselves heard over the two-stroke thumper even when the baffles were out of the pipes.

Tire noise drives automotive engineers absolutely nuts because it is so difficult to dampen.

ok, do not understand it, i have these tires and several others do to, we love them, i had metz before and thought they were just as good, have a bud from the lone star rally is looking at tires, found a bike that he says had shinko on it, says could not stand it, the ride, traction, handling was awful, waiting on response on if knows which shinko it was. cause mine all those are great on my 1100.

I know this is a Shinko thread and I'm not trying to hijack it... My tire guy recommended Kenda Kruz and I love em. Quiet, grippy and didn't break the bank.

@indie_rocker I have Bridgestone Exedras on my 2012 V-Star 950 that I bought last year and have put over 7,000 miles on them and they show little wear and seem to have good traction. After reading this thread the other evening, I went out to the garage and sat with the bike all night. The Exedras are very quiet, no noise what-so-ever. When I need tires I will consider them again. @commonground My bike came with the original Dunlops, being a 2007, they were pretty rough. So I'm comparing Kendas to bald Dunlops lol. But, 3000 miles and they are also showing very little wear. I am in no way locked into this brand, I'm an opportunist... If it's a good deal and decent quality (I've ran Kendas on the cage in winter for a couple years) then I'm all over it.

Come to think of it, when they make motorcycle tires they really skimp on the tread compared to car tires. What tread they have is probably an afterthought, "Hey Bob nice design but, nobody will buy these tires without tread on them. Go get me the Dremel tool and I'll put a couple grooves in em". @Keith I never thought of being a "Tire Listener" Betcha there's a big market for that. Confused

It's a field closely related to "horse whisperer." In fact, I think "Tire Listener" is the apprenticeship for "Horse Whisperer"...or maybe it is the other way around... Angel

Kenda kruz is on the way. MR and INDIE will be slapped if not satisfied with it. If satisfied, will send you lollipops.

Double slap if goes bald before 10k.
