Turn signals are funky
Howdy all. I bought a v-star 650 a couple of months ago and realized that all of the turn signals were corroded internally. I purchased all new signals are installed them. My front running lights work fine, but the left front blinker is the only one that works and it flashes really fast. The other 3 blinkers do not work. I'm an electrician and double checked the wiring that I did and it is fine. All of the fuses are good to go. Any ideas before I take the entire bike apart to check the rest of the wiring?

RE: Turn signals are funky
If good bulbs, fuses and new sockets then check the flasher unit. After that it is back to the wire harness.

OEM replacements. No LED's. I will try the flasher unit. Thanks.

RE: Turn signals are funky
Won't be the flasher unit if one signal is working and three aren't. The same signal from the flasher is routed through the turn signal switch so I would start there. If the turn signals were badly corroded I wouldn't be surprised if most everything electrical on the bike is in bad shape. Sounds like it's been left out in the weather...a lot. I've had the turn signal switch assembly off on my 650 and it is not anything like sealed...in fact the OEM signals are far more weather tight than the switch assembly.

The reason it's flashing fast is because it's only sensing the load of one bulb instead of two - it's called hyperflashing and is normal any time a bulb is not connected.

Welcome to the forum, BTW.

Good luck,
John
