Crash bars
I'm new here. Getting a leftover 2013 v star 1300 Tourer on Tuesday 7 Apr.
I've been checking the accessories available and one of the first I want are crash bars.
I know Yamaha has several different ones available, also Cruiser Customizing.
I've been riding for about 25 years, owning a couple of BMWs, a Goldwing, V-Strom, Nomad, and Victory Cross Country Tour.
A few of them have fallen over for various reasons.
With the leather covered bags on the V Star I figure it's worthwhile to provide some protection ASAP.
Wondered if one particular brand is appealing and why. If anyone has some info to provide I'd be most appreciative. Thanks.

Well. I guess noone had any useful information but I went ahead and did what I wanted.
I did get the engine/crash bars from Yamaha, also the rear bag protectors.
Not a big chrome fan so I got then in black.
Went on without any problems.
Not anxious to lay the bike down so I didn't get to check the protective ability of the rear guards.
I had also asked else where on the forum about lowers and whether or not there was any interference when turning lock to lock.
The Yamaha accessories catalogue indicates that their bars and lowers are not compatible.
I questioned Cruiser Customizing since they sell the same units. They were not aware of any problem. I bought the lowers and installed them. There is no interference, actually they could be about an inch wider.
I rode with the lowers installed and as I expected they performed well. Takes all the air blast from beneath the windshield and directs it eslewhere. I highly recommend them.

RE: Crash bars
@trident Glad you're happy with your purchases. Post some pics when you get a chance. I'd love to see a close up of the lowers too if you can.

RE: Crash bars
Nice! I'm gonna have to get me a set of lowers, I like the idea of some extra wind deflection for longer rides.
