2010 XVS 650 custom vs Classic fork tubes
Hi all, first time posting here.

I'm thinking about rebuilding my 2010 XVS 650 custom into a nice bobber project.

I prefer the fatter tire that comes standard on the classic model rather than the custom that I have, as well as the fatter fork tubes, from what I understand these fatter fork tubes are simply some metal covers.

My question is, can I simply use my current forks and slide the upper and lower covers on them to give them the fatter look the Classic model has and then simply install a classic front tire?

Or is the process a little more complicated than that? will I need the triple trees from the classic to accommodate the fatter fork tube covers? and is there any modifications I need to perform to get the classic sized wheels on the bike or is it just a straight swap?

@verdegris
Hi there and welcome to the forum...
I've done various Vstar bobbers (see pics at the end) and I believe I have the answers to your questions :)
-you are correct, the fat tubes in the Classic are just covers..
-No, you can not simply ad the the covers to your custom....
-you will need the bottom tree from a classic to be able to attach the lower covers. (By the way, if you decide to go that route I have one of those for sale)
-You can just mount a classic tire to a custom with out any modifications...it's a straight swap.

Here are two of the bobbers I've done.
