LED Accent Lighting
ok, have had a couple strips of supposed to be blue lights to put on her for a while, intentions were to put up to shine down on the engine from both sides, anybody with experience doing that? difficulty level for novice in wiring splicing, well can do the 3m stuff, easy, do the lights need to be sealed inside like a shrink tube to keep more water/weather resistant, then the wiring, where would I try to wire it into?

i'd wire it to the battery with its own fuse and switch so you wont need to turn the key for power. so you can light it up when parked without draining the battery to much. i don't know the best way to mount them, pull ties maybe if the frame is a wish bone one strip on each tube? be sure to use shrink wrap on the splices. tape will cause problems eventually.

Mine are led pods but they are just 3M taped to the bottom lip of the tank.

RE: LED Accent Lighting
I have them wired directly to the switch (Ignition), with it's own fuse. They draw very little current, so they won't leave you stranded with a dead battery.

Just FYI, most states, it's considered ILLEGAL to have blue LEDs while in motion, since they are emergency colors. You will be seen from a distance. They probably won't book you for impersonating a law enforcement officer. They might not even bother by pulling you over. But, they can give you a "driving with improper equipment" ticket.

I would have a switch to turn it on and off. It's very very easy. Just connect the black to black, red to red. If you get it wrong, LEDs won't turn on (LED is a Light Emitting Diode, meaning it's like a check valve for electricity). So, if you hook it up and it doesn't work, just reverse polarity (you have the positive on the negative, and visa versa).

I hope this helps. And like I said, be careful not to get pulled over for having blue LED lights on while you are under motion.

Here in SD if the light it self is not visible it can be any color. If it shine on the ground or reflects off chrome its all good. Guys with car are running red, blue, green behind the grills all the time.

In CA cops really don't like Blue LEDs... (I found out the hard way :(
Any other color and not pointing to the ground is good.

Yeah when I lived in CA going to collage cops were always pulling me over in my 54 Chevy truck. Loud pipes, even tried getting me for seat belts. Always checking my bumper height. Everything always got dropped when I went to court.

well guys now its my kuryakyn silver bullets on my tombstone, all mounted up good and wired but not lighting up! ideas? can a led get blown or some other issue? is there possibly a fuse to only the back turn signals that could be blown as the front are functioning fine.
