@Keith - that's a nice looking ride, man. You don't want to replace that baby...you'll have to start buying accessories all over again. Oh...wait...that's a good thing, ain't it! :)

Seriously, though, with all those accessories you ain't never going to get near what it's worth unless you get lucky and find a private buyer who is looking for exactly what you've got. I think in your shoes if the engine is getting a bit long in the tooth I might find a good shop to overhaul it and replace the clutch - has to be cheaper than buying a new bike, right?

yeah, no where near its value, 1 dealer offered me $2,000 for it, i was am sure you would give that, you ain't getting this though. whats the most miles anyone can remember before serious engine work on a 1100? even considered come that time, finding a low mile newer one and slapping all my upgrades on it.

RE: Post up pics
Getting a newer model of the same bike might be a really good idea. They have changed so little that pretty much everything you've got should fit a newer one. As for maximum miles I don't really have any idea and it's probably extremely dependent on how the bike was treated - and especially on how the bike was treated in the first few hundred miles. You can put a lot of "mileage" on a green bike by abusing it early - that's one reason I'd be extremely hesitant to buy something that had enough miles on it that it was clear the dealer had been using it for demos or a shop runner.

Is she using oil, smoking? how are the brakes/forks/shock, etc? If the forks are leaking, brakes are worn, and she's smoking then finding a later model of the same bike might be the way to go. On the other hand, if she's just smoking a little but everything else is pretty good then an engine rebuild would probably be most cost effective. Of course, if you did go with a later model 1100 then you would have the current one for parts...

RE: Post up pics
yeah was thinking throw my metal on newer one, all the suspension n engine newer, all the wiring, etc. mine still runs great, has a few oil leaks, well 1 less fixed that 1 that had on the back cylinder, nothing significant, she usually will get a smile from both m and f cagers.

Ok then, I did this awhile back with video added just after the w-walls and i wanted to also hear how it now sounded after i pull out the end baffle. that wasn't easy but i do like the mellow throaty/quiet when i want it to be. This is at the outter parking lot at dodger stadium where people go to work on their minor skills etc. only it does have a grade instead of flat.

funny story... my friend took his scooter to practice his slow turning through cones and i tried his scooter and couldn't do that good, but on my bike it was easy. i think tire size might have something to do with it. ok i'll shut up now!

@rudyjoe Nice sounds and nice looking bike. Good to see you could ride the white line too. Rolleyes I'm always amazed at how good a 650 can sound with the right pipes.
Never tell someone more than they are willing to hear.

looks good, thought you got the risers already for her. also i do believe the 1100 lowering kit is the same 1 for the 650, i think i have couple spare ones that would be willing to sell. some how i ended up with 3, 1 on the bike, 1 new in envelope warranty replacement as original failed and the 1st one to replace the failed unit, nothing wrong with it, just was not happy with the variation available with it.

I think that adjusting to a scooter would take quite a bit of time, for me. Without the tank to grip between your knees it just feels wrong. I've tried sitting on a couple at dealerships and it feels like I'm sitting on a commode... LOL

Actually installed them already and loving the pullback...just right! Been forgetting to take a pic but will tomorrow and post it. The onlt thing with the risers, it is slightly hitting the tank's center speedo but not really a problem at all. As for the lower kit - its not the same set up for a 650. Mine requires a block end pc. and i have it just didn't install it cause of no tool to compress the spring. thanks anyway.

The right pipes are just the stock ones. Can't spring for straight pipes but thats ok by me....for now. White line? didn't even think about it now that you mention it. Just took another look and yup your right hehe Thanks!

Here is the most recent rendering of my bike. I added 13.5 apes with 2.5 risers, swapped to a single cable HD throttle, changed mirrors ...these have skulls;), removed kill switch, moved starter to a foot controlled button, and added a little satin black paint to the speedo. I also tossed on a couple of strands of blue leds behind the HD horn, and Hypercharger to go with the purple strips on the frame. It gives off a sinister glow at night now.
