if possible measure your frame width at the narrowest point in millimeters if its over 200mm your good to go. the height of the tire shouldn't matter that much unless the shock bottoms out which isn't likely . if your using an inch tape measure just convert the numbers to millimeters.. easy peasy good luck 200/70-15 vs 170/80-15 the second number is the percent of the width in height so 70% of 200 is 140 so 140mm is the height. it's called an aspect ratio. the stock tire is 80% of 170 making the height 136mm. the extra 4mm on the bigger tire will increase top speed slightly which is helpful at highway speed to lower the rpm a tad. the width is measured with the tire inflated and mounted on a vehicle with the vehicles weight on it. it's not measured off the shelf.
mine's in for winter with the tires off so i measured it. 7.5 inches 190.5mm i can't see a 200mm tire fitting without modifying the swingarm. the frame tubing would need to be pushed in 5.5mm at least on each side. just take a feeler gauge and measure your stock tire clearance to the swingarm, there's is definitely not 10mm on each side to accommodate an extra 20 millimeters of tire. i just don't see it happining
this guy used a metzler 880 200/70-15 but metzler over sizes their tire widths it's not a full 200mm probably closer to 190 but here's the link
http://s325.photobucket.com/user/bleheny...2.jpg.html anything over 180mm is supposed to go on a 6 inch rim so you'll be really pinching it to fit your rim which is not a good thing.
