What are your road trip plans for 2016?
Giving serious consideration to a Las Vegas ride from SW Michigan in May. My partner will already be there and it would be cool to meet him there. Might pack the tent and do some KOAing to save on hotel bills. It's 4000 miles round trip, the hotels could get expensive.

While we're talking about it. What do y'all think. I will leave home with fresh oil and filter. Should I get my oil changed in Vegas before heading back or push the 500 miles and run all 4000 on a single oil change? Or am I being a cheapskate?

I typically change it at about 3000. We all remember the filter bolt stripping debacle in Florida last summer (good God what a nightmare, http://www.vstarforum.com/showthread.php?tid=5794 ). If I did have service done in Vegas, it would just be an oil change and no touchy the filter!

That sounds like a fantastic trip. I'm no expert on maintenance, but I do always make it a point to change my oil regularly. It's the life blood.

That being said, your bike may not need it. It probably depends on your bike and how it goes through oil, and what kind of oil.

Sounds like a good time of year to go. I'm sure it can get really, really hot if you wait until later in June.

North is usually best. I go up to Old Orchard Beach every year but usually bring my Jeep so I can bring my kayak and mountain bike. I'm tempted to take the bike this year.

That's an idea actually. I've been wanting to try one of those stand up paddle boards. Hmm.

...and then instead of my bicycle I could just bring my long board skate board. Hehe.
