How do I remove the Handlebar end caps?
I am wanting to change grips and can not figure out how the stock bar end caps come off. I don't want to damage them in case I have to reinstall them later. Do they unscrew or are they a press in mount? Or am I missing the way they are installed? Any experience in doing this?

No clue on the 250, but the 1300 has an insert on the end that you pop off and then use a hex wrench to unscrew the cap. Maybe yours is similar.
Also I used something called Freeze Off to help loosen the left grip. Worked way better that WD-40.
Good luck!

Looked closely at both end caps- no insert on these to cover a mounting screw. Thanks for the suggestion anyway!

there difficult to remove without scaring them considerably strong glue holds them, brake cleaner dissolves glue pretty good if you can get it were its needed. part #42N-26246 if you wreck em getting em off http://www.yamahapartshouse.com/oemparts...ndle-cable heres a video if the bolt is stuck https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvlSkFLgnyc

Thanks for the info but mine is a 2012. Completely different bar. Mine has the low bar and there are no bolts in the end caps I can find. I will try to spray brake cleaner around the cap and see if that loosens it.

RE: How do I remove the Handlebar end caps?
I know I'm replying to an old post, but I was searching everywhere on how to remove the end caps on my 2014 V Star 250 with no luck. Yesterday, I had to go to the dealer and asked a mechanic how to replace the end caps. He took me in the back, grabbed and old grip and said , "Are they like this?" They were identical, no bolts, screws, etc. He said the whole thing just pulls off...end caps and all. He said just be easy replacing the throttle grip.
