Hi all. I've browsed this group a few times and decided to join. I got my 2009 VStar 950 last July, and have enjoyed it a lot. I've just about completed my mods... Only a few left to go.

I've added Viking saddlebags with quick detach brackets, Memphis shades batwing fairing kit and a Rush slip-on exhaust. Oh, and a chrome drive belt cover....(ask me why, lol)

I want to install an engine guard, power port, universal mount and have the seat redone.

I originally wanted the tourer, but got a great deal on this. I'm having fun... Although the wallet isn't... modifying this ride to fit what I want. So far I am happy with the results.

Hopefully I can help answer some questions around here. I've posted a couple of pics so maybe when someone Google's "Tommy blue VStar 950 with Memphis shades batwing fairing" they will have better reference pictures than the sad ones I found!

Oh, my name isn't Tommy in case you were wondering, lol. It's all about the bikes here, right? You all have some nice looking rides that I've seen while surfing the site! Looking forward to seeing more pics.

What size windshield did you end up putting on the fairing? I still can't afford one yet, but looking at them. Also, does it shield your hands from rain? I was out in the rain yesterday and wished I had protection, even with heated grips cranked.

I got the 9" shield. I'm 5'8", and I can feel some wind around my head, but it isn't the buffeting type. I haven't ridden in the rain yet, so I can't definitely answer that, bit it does feel like it cuts down on the amount of wind your hands are exposed to.

I can easily see over the top of the shield. Also, it was real windy yesterday, and I could feel a little more affect on the bike than it has when the front is naked, but I expected that.

I would like to try a spoiler windshield some time, but I am happy with my setup. I rode home from work Friday morning in 42 degree temps, and only my hands were cold.... Because I forgot my gauntlet gloves and was wearing vented gloves.

I have the 9 inch spoiler, same effect. Feel the wind but no buffing that I can tell.
