Timing 180 out? No fire after starter clutch change...
Hey everyone, thanks for having me. Was encouraged to join this forum while reading some other posts. I have become a little lost with the 04 vstar 1100. Replaced a starter clutch, timed everything according to the book. At least as far as I can tell....and now I have no fire at all. Spark is there, fuel in carb bowls, I even sprayed just a bit of starting fluid into the carb throat just to see if it would pop off and I have nothing. I did pull carbs last night to clean them again today, but appear mostly clean. (with the exception of first few drops from the bowls being a brownish tint last few times...) I have been doing this work as more of a favor for a friend and would like to get it finished up. Any help is appreciated. Could timing be 180 out? I have double checked cam gears are aligned etc etc. I will run a compression test tonight. Also with the vstar and starter clutch issues, yall still test with throttle wide open? I hope its something stupid like I pull out the plugs and they are fouled badly, one of the carbs seems to need the float adjusted.....

Anyways, anything at all I appreciate. Bike is an 4 vstar 1100 silverado

That is what I thought, just wasn't sure with the whole starter clutch ordeal.

Just pulled the rear plug last night, and was slightly wet and black as hell. Going to replace the plugs, and adjust carbs a touch. Just don't understand why it wouldn't run now.
