exhaust popping after removing ais
So I just picked up a '01 650 custom in really nice condition. This bike ran super smooth when I first got it, but it had the real annoying popping from the exhaust, vance & hines. So I read around alot and I bypassed the AIS and it stopped backfiring, so I pulled the trigger on a full removal. Problem is now, afterwards I have popping still, maybe worse and the bike has developed a miss when it's cold. I cleaned up the spark plugs, and cleaned out the k&n filter while I had the box off. So, almost certain that there's no vacuum leaks.

I almost want to say that the exhaust sounds different, as well.

I'm with @nick59 I would also add synching the carbs. When the carbs aren't synced properly the bike will run goofy; popping, missing, harder time starting, idle fluctuations, etc. It can be one, all, or a combination of those symptoms. Plus, they should be synced whenever a change is made to the air and/or fuel delivery systems. Synching the carbs is often overlooked, but can solve several problems.
