Windshield size Question on 2014 V-Star 950 Tourer
I bought a new 2014 V-Star 950 Tourer yesterday. It's been on the showroom floor for a while! I got a great deal on it and drove home (50 miles).

My face and head were buffetted pretty badly, so I am looking into a taller windshield.

I called the Yamaha dealer, they offer S,M, L (16 3/8", 20 1/2", 24 1/2") replacements.

I measured mine, from the edge above the headlight to the top edge and measured exactly 15 inches.
I'm very confused, the parts person at the dealership had no idea why mine would be 15" and recommended that I drive 50 miles there and 50 miles back so they could look at it.

I just want to order a windshield without worrying about the height.

I figure I need about 2" more to get the top edge at nose level.
National Cycle sells one from 19 to 21 inches, would higher be better???

Thanks in advance!

Windshield size Question on 2014 V-Star 950 Tourer
Have someone hold tape measure up while you sit on it. I had a 15 on mine and same problems. 19 should be better. As you are riding hold your left arm across your chest, you will be able to tell where most of the wind is comming from. I notice it from the bottom around the tank. I also have a full fairing so it may differ with you. I am 5"9 also.

RE: Windshield size Question on 2014 V-Star 950 Tourer
Thanks for the reply!
I was afraid I had an odd windshield.
Time to start shopping around for a new one. I'm going to go with a minimum of 19" since I am 6' 1"

Thanks again!

RE: Windshield size Question on 2014 V-Star 950 Tourer
I bought a replacement windshield from the local Yamaha dealer. It was $169 for the glass only. I got a medium, which is 20 1/2" tall. It should be ready for me to pick up by tomorrow afternoon.

RE: Windshield size Question on 2014 V-Star 950 Tourer
Installed the new windshield; it was pretty easy,
HOWEVER, removing the care and cleaning sticker was WAY too difficult.
I had to get a hair dryer and heat the sticker so the glue would soften. I was wary of damaging the windshield, so I applied the heat very carefully.
All is good now, I just need to test drive it.
Oh, and I removed the orange and white sticker by the gas cap while I was at it.
I hope I can remember to wear protective gear without the help of the sticker.

UPDATE: Drove to work this morning. The windshield is a definite improvement!
