V Star 250 Engine rattle
I have about 600 miles on my engine. I have started to hear a rattle in the engine when it is fully warm and idling at a stop light. The noise comes and goes during an average ride. Other than that the bike runs great. I have heard that it is the cam chain adjusting and is a normal condition. Thoughts on this one please. Thanks. Doug Undecided

RE: V Star 250 Engine rattle
probably your clutch basket--the more miles you put on your bike, the more the clutch basket will rattle.does the noise go away when you pull in on the clutch lever? if so,the noise is harmless and normal.

Actually the noise is starting to go away. It is more like a ticking, scraping sound, sounds like from the front exhaust side. At first it would come and go
at idle, but be gone by the end of a 30-45 minute ride. Last ride it was present a couple of times in the first 15 minutes, then gone the rest of the ride.
To me it sounds like the cam chain trying to adjust, but I am far from an expert. Thank you for taking the time to reply. Doug Smile
