Should I do it ?
Happy holidays everyone!
Have a quick question for y'all...
I have the chance to get a 2010 xvs950
Bike has around 59k miles and transmission problems....but absolutely clean otherwise. (See pic)
Here is my thinking:
The bike I've negotiated it down to $1K and I'm not going to deal with the transmission problem...
There is an 2012 complete engine with less than 100 miles (yes that is 100) I can get for another $1K
Swap engines and I'll have a basically new bike for $2K.

Was it transmission problems you had or was it an engine problem? Did the new engine come with a transmission?

So what was the problem? I am looking at getting a $600 bike with transmission problems too. And I too am looking at swapping in a different motor tranny combo.

RE: Should I do it ?
Same question as Solohopper. How did you go from replacing the motor to 0 dollars and a ten minute fix? Sounds like it wasn't the tranny? Congrats on the great purchase! You're going to love the bike if it's in otherwise good condition. Hope you share your impressions of your new ride.
