VStar 650 Classic Carb Sync Question
I have a VStar 650 Classic and figured it should be easy to do my own carb sync, following the descriptions I found in the Yamaha Service Manual and videos on the web.
I found the two sync ports, one plugged, the other connected with a hose to the Air Cut Valve Assy. As I wasn't sure whether these were the right ones, I connected the two ports with a long 3/16" PVC hose that I was about to use to build a simple difference manometer, i.e. use the same configuration as when measuring the difference, just without the oil in the hose. However, the bike didn't really start anymore when I did that. It seems that disconnecting the hose to the Air Cut Valve Assy destabilizes the carburator system too much.
I am now considering a t-junction to avoid having to disconnect the hose to the Air Cut Valve, although the videos and descriptions around suggest that it should work without. Unfortunately none of the videos I found shows clearly what to hook up
where and what to do with any dangling hoses.
I would be grateful for suggestions.
