Which VStar 1100, or VTX 1300 or 1800???
HI all!

I'm going to dive right in here an ask for advice.

Been looking at bikes for awhile and have 3 used bikes I'm interested in. BTW, I'm 6'2" 225. Wife will ride too sometimes, she's ~120 lbs.

I "thought" I knew which one I had decided on until today. All ready to buy a 2008 v star 1100 Classic with Vance Hines pipes, 11k miles for $3800.

Then I see a 2010 with 7k miles without the aftermarket pipes for $4200.

Also saw a VTX 1300, 2006, 17k miles for $3400. I'm sure most here like the V Star better, but I'm torn. The extra 200 cc sounds nice. Not sure if I need it or if the 1100 is fine.

Last, I just saw another VTX, it's a 2002, but has a new motor with only 3900 miles, plus it's an 1800. $3700. I don't know if it's too much bike for me right now though.

Any thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated. All have bags and windshield and sissy bar back seat.

Original plan was to buy the 2008 1100 in about 3 hours, but now I'm torn!

Help!

Thanks

hell had a 1100 for 7 years, went to a 1900 stratoliner and love it, handles and rides like a dream!
2006 VStar Stratoliner, Freedom Performance split dual exhaust, Mustang seats, Sissy bar with back rack, bolted saddlebags to mounts.

The 1100 is great (I have one), but remember it has been discontinued so parts may become scarce in 7 or 8 years. There is always the 1300 or as Keith says the big stratoliner. Can't comment on the honda

I would pick the 1800. It's nice to have the extra power to get moving easier.

Thanks to those who offered advice. Your help is much appreciated!

I'm picking up the 08 V-star 1100 with 11k mi tonight for 3700. KBB says value is $4500 without the Vance Hines pipes, so I think I'm getting a deal. Worst case, if I don't like it, I'll sell it in a few months and find something else!

Already ordered the forward controls mod to sit more comfortably.

Now if the mercury will push above 40 I'll be happy!
