new tires bounce at low speeds
2006 1100 custom - stock spoke wheels - new tires front and back Michelin Commander II

Heard such great things about these tires, I had to try them. However, between 40-60 kmh I am having a bounce - like driving over washboards. :( Really unhappy because it took me way too many hours to remove and replace the rear tire. It's a real PITA. I am not inclined to ride like this - seems risky to me.

No vibration - just this bounce. I started with 32psi front and 36 rear, but as I am only 130 lbs, after feeling the bounce I thought maybe the tires were too hard so reduced the pressures to 28 and 32. No change. No feedback in front or rear brakes. No steering issues. Over 60 kmh, the bounce goes away.

There was no bounce with my old Excedra tires. Can this really be a balancing issue? Or did I get a bad tire?

don't know if this will help.. i have the same bike, last year i put a dunlop 404 on the front and got a bounce at 40 to 50 mph. i had the tire remounted and balanced. Did't help. i'm due for a new tire this summer so i hope it goes away, at least i know when i going between 40 and fifty.

RE: new tires bounce at low speeds
Update: so far the consensus is that the tires are duds; out of round. Apparently there is a significant "lump" on both front and back. Front is worse. :( I need to file a claim with Fortnine who will forward it to Michelin and we'll see what happens. In the meantime, I'm out $$ and the use of my bike. :( Well, maybe Michelin will be nice to me and give me some money back on the service work - they will only issue a credit if a mechanic provides a formal diagnosis. Come on, Michelin! Be good to me!

Second update: I did get almost a full refund on both tires - less shipping of course. And nothing for the extra labour charges. For me: I will not order tires online again. Not worth the hassle, time and cost in case things go wrong :(
