good post, I've not done my own valves before, not because I can't just because I'm basically lazy.

RE: Valve Adjustment: V-Star 1100
Hello All,

I'm new here. I know this is an old thread, but I just adjusted my valves on my bike this past weekend. Was easier than it looked.

I purchased my bike brand new with around 10 miles on it 2 years ago. I have about 9000 miles on it now and decided to install some SS Custom Cycle 429 Cams.

My valves were way off when I adjusted them.

Got the bike back together and did the initial break in on the cams, and the bike is much smoother now.

Probably should have adjusted the valves at the initial 600 mile break in.

Just though I'd throw in my input.

That's awesome but I wonder how come it required adjustments with that low mileage?

He purchased and installed new cams. Shanes cams are 429 or larger which means a valve adjustment was needed.
