Front cylinder dead rich at idle
04 VStar 1100 w/ about 13,000 miles.

Been having a problem with the front cylinder not idling correctly for a while now. Earlier this year, I pulled the cover off the bottom of the carbs, and cleaned what I could as thoroughly as I could (ethanol gas, lovely). This helped for a while, but eventually, the front cylinder started dropping out again, usually at idle or light throttle. I found a carb sync walkthrough, built a single tube style manometer and synced the carbs, they were wildly out of whack. This helped a little bit, but not much.

Finally, yesterday, I pulled the carbs back out, pulled the PMS screws, sprayed some carb cleaner down the hole, then set them at 2.5 turns out. I did check the screw settings prior to removal, and they were way further out than that, at least 4 turns. Did some more fiddling with the carbs on the bike, ending with the PMS at ~1.5 turns out, afraid to go any further.

Again little change, maybe a bit better idle after 10 minutes of riding, but eventually, the idle drops and the front cylinder cuts out.

My bike has a hypercharger air cleaner, and at one point, I pulled the vacuum line off the cleaner, and the idle picked back up. When I plugged the line, the cylinder almost immediately dies.

What am I missing?
