Rectifier/Regulator Swap
Has anyone had any luck swapping a regulator/rectifier with one from another model or another brand. I get mixed results from Electrosport R/R's and I've read that replacing the original for one from a 2003+ (part no. 4XY-81960-00-00)model will work. Pros are they handle more power better with less failure, Cons are they may not fit as well and aftermarket R/R's have a high failure rate. I'm riding a 1999 VStar 1100 Custom with no extra electrical items. Trying to find the cause of no charging power to the battery and its looking like the Regulator/Rectifier.

RE: Rectifier/Regulator Swap
So I've read that you can swap out the '99 r/r model for the '05 model. Wondering if this is a straight swap or do you have to change the connector. Dont want to solder a new connector on if I dont have to. Any experience here? Yamaha says there isnt a problem but from different forums many folks say there is, overheating, not being able to take the charge from the stator etc.
